Pilot Biomass Transport Project
Reducing wildfire risk and improving forest health by facilitating the transport of previously felled, unmerchantable woody biomass to productive end-use facilities
GSNR has entered into a $3.34 million Stewardship Agreement with the United States Forest Service to implement the Pilot Biomass Transport Project. This project will support the transportation and removal of previously felled biomass, roundwood, and hazardous fuels from the National Forest System lands. These materials will be delivered safely and efficiently to existing regional businesses supporting local and rural economic development.
The Grizzly Flat Cull Deck Removal Project, located within the Eldorado National Forest (ENF), is the first initial project under GSNR’s broader Pilot Biomass Transport Project to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health by facilitating the transport of previously felled, unmerchantable woody biomass to productive end-use facilities. Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, this initial project will support the removal and hauling of an estimated 21,773 Green Tons (GT) of decked biomass currently located within the Eldorado National Forest to designated end-users identified by the successful bidder. No cutting or harvesting is involved.
